Richard Fredrick "Dick" Laehn, age 80, passed away on Sunday April 2, 2023, in Shawano. Dick was born on May 19, 1942, to the late Fredrick and Ruby (Seehafer) Laehn in Shawano. On November 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to Sandra "Sandy" Mathison at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. He entered the U.S. Army and served his country proudly in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on February 26, 1970. Dick worked for the city of Shawano and Thorson Foods for many years. In his free time, he loved to bowl and coach little league. Dick always loved telling jokes and going to the casino. He enjoyed hunting with his son Todd and nicknamed everyone he came in contact with.

Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandy; his sons, Todd and Brian; his grandchildren Courtney Laehn, Jordan Laehn and Ashley (Lawrence) Coon; his great-grandchild, Avery Coon; his brothers-in-law, Elmer (Judy) Mathison, Leroy Buettner and Duane Buettner; his sisters-in-law, Diane Ladwig, Barb Biertzer, Jodi (Kyle) Gunderson, Mary Urban and Dixie Laehn. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruby; brother, Jon; his sister, Phylis (Jim) Jahnke; sister-in-law, Darlene Becker.

A funeral service for Dick will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday April 6, 2023, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Dick Menning officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Shawano VFW Post #2723.
