Richard Michael Penass, age 63, of Keshena, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his home. Born on June 2, 1953 in Keshena, he is the son of the late William and Emerine (Corn) Penass, Jr. He attended St. Joe's Indian School and graduated from Shawano High School. Later he attended St. Norbert's College and Ripon College. Richard was united in marriage to Glenda Miller in Keshena on June 2, 1978 and she preceded in in death in 2003. He worked as a police officer for the Menominee Tribal Police, badge # 1265. Richard was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badgers Fan. He loved Menominee baseball games and was one of the original "Tree People". Richard loved spending time at the family lake lot, and was most proud of participating in a televised Pro Bowlers tour. Richard was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena.
Richard is survived by: his children, Christopher (Evie) Miller of Keshena, Bradley Penass of Keshena, Craig (Krystle) Penass of Keshena, Shawna (Henry) Penass of Neopit; four grandchildren, Kyleigh Miller, Kallie Penass, Craig Penass, Jr., Mitchell "Puttzo" Perez; his siblings, Rae Ellen (Roger) Baker of Hayward, Beverly (Donnie) Dodge, Sr. of Shawano, Patricia (Patrick) Firgens of Keshena, William (Mary) Penass, III of Keshena, Kevin (Michelle) Penass of Keshena, Brenda Besaw of Shawano and Alan "Moon" (Melissa) Penass of Shawano; an aunt, Luella (Loren) Small; an uncle, Wayne "Bunker" Pecore; 25 nieces and nephews, including, God Son, Jeremy Penass; 21 great nieces and nephews, the many members of the Corn, Miller, and Pecore families, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda and his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena with Rev. Francis Zurbano officiating. Visitation will be held at the Firgens residence, W2802 Chief Carron Road in Keshena from 4:00 pm Wednesday, December 14, 2016 until the procession leaves for the church on Friday.
