Obituary

Robert “Bob” Miller Jr., age 83, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in hospice care surrounded by family on May 28, 2026. He was born on January 10, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Robert Miller Sr. and Priscilla (Tousey) Miller and was an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee (Mohican) tribal community.

Bob graduated from Bowler High School with the class of 1961 then served with a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Unit stationed at Vint Hill, Virginia, a U.S. Army and NSA intelligence base used in WW II. Bob’s assignment was related to the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was later transferred to Istanbul, Turkey and liked to tell stories about his military experience and travels.

Bob was united in marriage to Brenda Pecore on November 28, 1964, in Milwaukee, WI. He is survived by his four children Brigetta Miller, Rob Miller, Beth (Alan) Gaffney, Barb (Jack Zenzig) Miller and his five grandchildren Michaela, McKenzie, Tia, Alexis, & Peyton. He is further survived by his youngest sister Valorie Elmergreen and brother-in-law Earl Pomeroy. He was preceded in death by his parents Priscilla (Tousey) Miller and Robert Miller Sr., wife Brenda (Pecore) Miller, siblings Darlyne (Simon) Dworschak, Sherman (Marilyn) Miller, Ila Jean Pomeroy, and brother-in-law Michael Elmergreen.

Bob held various leadership roles within the Great Lakes Intertribal Council and the Stockbridge-Munsee tribal government and served many years as District Director with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).

Bob often reminisced about growing up in his family’s tiny stone house on the reservation without running water or electricity, picking cherries in Door County as a young boy, fishing on the Red River and hunting in the woods with his childhood friends and relatives. In later years, he loved talking about airplanes and attending EAA. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching the Packers.

A funeral service for Bob will be held at 11:30am at the Stockbridge-Munsee Elderly Center, N8651 Maplewood Street, Bowler, WI on Saturday, June 13, with Rev. Jonathon Peters officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Red Springs Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Mohican Veterans and the Gresham American Legion.
