Robert Louis Erban, age 93 of Shawano, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at a nursing home in Shawano. Born on October 5, 1918 in Oshkosh, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Erban. During World War II, Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. In 1947 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Hanley. The couple made their home in the Oshkosh area where Bob spent 25 years on the Oshkosh Police Force. After his retirement, the couple moved to their home near Shawano Lake. Bob loved to be in the outdoor especially when he was working on his yard. He also enjoyed all types of sports. Bob was a past exalted ruler of the Oshkosh Elk Club. Bob is survived by: 2 sisters, Marion Sturm of Oshkosh, Audrey (John) Henderson of Green Bay; a brother, Elmer (Iveigh) Erban of Moses Lake, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Bob also thought a lot of his good friend Bob Boucher and his wife, and his good friend, John Blomer. Bob was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Ann in 1989; his parents; 6 brothers, Walter, John, Harold, Edward, Richard and Charles Erban; and 2 sisters, Gert Schein and Dorothy Koehn. There will be no services. Bob will be laid to rest in Oshkosh. Peace be with him. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
