Obituary

Robert Joseph Johnson, Sr., age 86 of South Branch, began his journey home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Robert was born on February 6, 1935 to the late Joseph "Joe" and Alice (Miller) Johnson in Keshena. He was a 1954 graduate of Shawano High School and after high school went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. On November 3, 1962, Robert was united in marriage to Lois Chantel. Lois preceded him in death on December 4, 2008. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena.  Robert enjoyed visiting with his family and friends sharing his life experiences, especially logging. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, anything outdoors, and occasionally a cold beer. Robert loved to laugh and start the B.S. by playing tricks on others. He loved his family dearly, enjoying all the moments spent together, especially with the grandchildren. Robert loved connecting with his loved ones on FaceTime and Facebook. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his children, Robert Johnson Jr. of South Branch, Mary Beth (Bert) Huntington of Gresham, Martin Johnson of South Branch, and Hope Johnson of Arizona; grandchildren, Robert Johnson III, James (Tonya) Johnson, Tim Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Matt Johnson, Lucas Huntington, Eden Huntington, and Mary Ellen Huntington; and one sister, Jill (Paul Marroquin) Johnson of South Branch.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and siblings, Crystal (Carl) Kaquatosh, Hazel (Bernhard) Stuewer, Esther Johnson, Fred (Marilyn) Johnson, and Jack Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Noreen Johnson.

A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's of the Lake Cemetery in South Branch. Military honors will be conducted by the Keshena American Legion and the Veterans of the Menominee Nation. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and again on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of procession to the church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center of Shawano, Menominee Tribal Clinic Staff, ThedaCare Hospice, Jill for her continued care and support, and Shannon Shawanokasic for her care of the past few years.

Grandpa

Soulmates of sorts

He and I

Made for each other

No doubt in my mind

His gentle spirit

Soft and kind

His love contagious

Like his beautiful smile

How blessed to have found him

Yep, he is mine

My sweet soul Grandpa

Truly one of a kind

Yes, soulmates for sure, He and I.
