Nemetz
March 13, 1929 – November 16, 2021
Robert Edward Nemetz, of Shawano, Wisconsin, passed away at Aurora BayCare Hospital in Green Bay on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the age of 92. He was born on March 13, 1929, in the town of Waukechon, Shawano County. He was the son of Edward and Iva (Dietzler) Nemetz. On July 1 st , 1953, he was united in marriage to Betty Blank at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano.
Bob worked at the Shawano County Highway Department for 39 years and retired in 1989. Bob told the story of working for Felts Construction when he was a younger man. Bob worked on building the Bilmay Hotel, a one-time Shawano Landmark.
He was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed his gardening over the years, as well as planning and cooking meals. Bob enjoyed numerous bus and fishing trips with Betty and family.
Survivors include: his best friend and true love, wife, Betty, of 68 years of marriage, children: Randy (Shelley) Nemetz, Kathy (Bob) Johnson, 4 grandchildren: Greg (Lesley) Nemetz, Karissa (Shane) Kunschke, Sarah Bahr, and Kayla (Tyler) Johnson, four great-grandsons: Owen, Sawyer, Marshall Nemetz, Carson Bahr, and baby girl Kunschke on the way. Bob was further survived by brother, Donald (Marion) Nemetz, sister, Judy (Jim) Tomashek, sisters-in-law: Sandy Nemetz and Alice Blank, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Nemetz, and three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
A funeral mass for Bob will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Tuesday at the church until the time of service.
