IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert S.
Schroeder
January 14, 1944 – January 16, 2023
Robert "Bob" S. Schroeder passed away on January 16, 2023. Bob was born on January 14, 1944, to the late Kathryn "Kitty" (Batton) Schroeder and Col. Robert "Bob" W. Schroeder. Spending his early years on the DuPont Estate in Kennett Square, PA, where Bob's grandfather worked, he and his family then followed Bob Sr.'s career, travelling to several U.S. Army bases, spending a large part of his childhood at Fort Sheridan in IL, until his father retired and the family moved to Appleton, WI, where Bob attended school, graduating in 1962. He was proud of his military background and had a deep love for our country.
Bob was united in marriage to the late Margaret "Maggie" (Bernitt) Daley in 1965. He and Maggie had two children, Scott and Stephanie. In 1980, Bob married Vicki (Lamberies) Wartman and had one daughter, Leslie.
Bob spent his career as a carpenter and millwright working for several companies until he retired from Boldt Construction in 2006. He spent many years leading crews as a Foreman and enjoyed his work traveling cross country building machines. One of his favorite projects was working on the construction of the Two Creeks Nuclear Power Plant. Bob never shied away from a project and spent many years also working in Vicki's family's supper clubs, The Woodland in Gresham and Woodland II in Shawano. He enjoyed his time behind the bar and all the memorable relationships that were created.
Bob enjoyed golf, riding his Harley Davidson, playing a good game of dice or pool, and bowled for many years. Bob was very social and gained many friends in the Shawano area through various leagues and service clubs. He was very active in both the Gresham and Shawano Lake Lions Clubs over the years and served as Village President for the Village of Gresham during the 1980's.
Bob loved his friends, his many dogs, his three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Stephanie (Peter & Char) Mielke. He is survived by his son Scott (Michelle) Schroeder, daughter Leslie (Max) Verkuilen, Grandchildren, Joshua (Morgan) Mielke, Samantha (Cameron) Taylor, Matthew (Stephanie) Mielke, Adam (Tarah Malotky) Mielke, Dustin (Alyson) Schroeder, Dylan (Tristan) Schroeder, Devon (Justin) Miller, Francesca Verkuilen, and ten great-grandchildren.
