Robert “Bob” George Snyder, age 85, of Shawano, Wisconsin, entered eternal life August 9, 2026.

Bob is survived by his children, Bob (Rhonda) Snyder, Mark Snyder, Elissa (Joel) Cooper, Todd Snyder, and Amanda Gordon; grandsons, Brian Hollis, Ben and Jack Cooper, Zachary and Blake Gordon; and great-granddaughter, Fiah Hollis; siblings, Bill Snyder, Harry (Alice) Snyder, Jill (Larry) Garibaldi, and many nieces and nephews as well as special friends Dan and Suzi Fiedler and Carol Fiedler, who showed unwavering commitment and friendship to Bob over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert George and Mary (Yeager) Snyder, step-mother Mercedes (Propsom) Snyder, sister Belle Herner, brother George Snyder, and best friend of 70-plus years George Fiedler.

Bob was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on January 7, 1941. The family eventually relocated to Worth, Illinois, where Bob graduated from Blue Island High School in 1959. He served his country as a rescue swimmer and sonar technician on an aircraft carrier in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Bob held engineering positions throughout his career of employment at Nalco Chemical Company and Kastalon, work which resulted in being named in multiple patents.

After raising his family in Palos Heights, Illinois, retirement led Bob first to a cabin in the woods of Tilleda, Wisconsin, affectionately known as CampQuityerbitchin, and shortly thereafter to Shawano, Wisconsin, where he spent many years surrounded by family and friends enjoying lake life, making maple syrup, hunting, and building projects.

As a proud Papa/Grandpa Snyder he never missed an opportunity to celebrate the many achievements of his grandchildren.

Bob’s wish of spending his final days at his beloved cottage on Loon Lake was granted as he passed to eternity just one day after the annual Snyder family reunion. To say he will be dearly missed is an understatement. Everyone who knew Bob loved him; and our lives will never be the same without him.
