Robert D. Traeger, age 96, of Gresham, went home to the Lord on Thursday April 2, 2026, in Shawano surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on February 25, 1930, in the Town of Herman on the family farm to the late Joseph and Louise (Lagers) Traeger. He lived in the Gresham area for all of his life and earned the nickname Jumpy at an early age. On August 12, 1961, Bob married the love of his life Bernadine Schmidt in Antigo. He was proud of the work he did at Gresham Bank for 43 years. Bob was active for 57 years in the Gresham Lions Club. For 47 years, he was the treasurer for the Town of Herman. He was a history buff, had a sweet tooth for cookies, and always had time for his yard work and his family. Bob loved baseball and never missed an opportunity to watch the Brewers play. He was a very active member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham.

Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernadine; children, Mary (Kent) Herman, Gary (Gina) Traeger, Sharon (Steven) Laes and Susan (Jay) Vomastic; grandchildren, Erika, Kyle, Kira, Joshua, Seth (Dani), Jeremy (Alora), Brett, James, Brian (Savanah), Taylor, Jayson, Courtney, Averi (Colton) and Abigail; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Rayleigh, Loic and Anola. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Breanna; siblings, Norbert, Mary, Jane, Margie, Doris, Beverly, Dorothy and JoAnn; and parents, Joseph and Louise Traeger.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday April 10, 2026, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Looney and Fr. Vincent officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Thursday April 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Parish Wake service at 6:30 pm with Deacon Mark Fuller. Visitation will be held again at the church on Friday starting at 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
