Robert Lee Unger, Jr., age 67 of Shawano, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at a local nursing home. Born on November 20, 1946 in Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert and Angelina A. (Gernano) Unger, Sr. Robert grew up in the Shawano area, returning 11 years ago. He was an active member of Green Peace and an active environmentalist. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On January 5, 2001 he was united in marriage to Linda Wheeler. Robert is survived by7: his wife, Linda; a son, Eric Unger of Embarrass; a daughter, Anita (Chris) Barr of Keshena; Cyndi (William) Aden of Spencer; 2 step-daughters, Jessica (Jack) Young of Shawano, Stephanie Hathaway of Green Bay; 4 grandchildren; and 6 siblings, Guy Unger, Annette (Rick) Klose, Richard Unger, Nancy Meyer, Mike (Janelle) Unger and Curt Unger. A gathering of remembrance will be held at the American Legion Hall for a potluck dinner on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from noon until 2:00p.m. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
