Obituary

Robert Lloyd Waukau, age 77, of West Allis, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Milwaukee. Robert was born in Keshena on December 14, 1939, son of the late Joseph "Al" and Elva (Newton) Waukau.  He graduated from Shawano High School with the class of 1959.  Following high school, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1964.  He worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad for over 25 years before retiring in 2003.  He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit and a 39 year member of AA.  Robert loved helping others, his witty sense of humor and memorable stories will be missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by: two sons, Robert W. (Christine Boryscka) Tourtillott of Chicago and Jesse (Luisana) Waukau of West Allis; and five grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, Jenna, Tatyana and Natalya.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bud and Blacky Brown; five sisters, Gwendolyn Dickie, Audrey Waubanascum, Ruby Layton, Dorla Kristofek and LaVonne Waupoose.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Rev. Francis Zurbano officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation following the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center from 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017 until the time of the service.
