Obituary

Roger Eugene Folkerts, age 77, of Cecil, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Shawano. Roger was born in Rockford, IL on June 21, 1940, the son of the late Eilert and Helen (Olson) Folkerts.  Roger enlisted into the United States Air Force and worked as a cryptographer for 11 years.  On December 19, 1959, Roger was united in marriage to Donna Peterson in Rockford, IL.  Donna preceded him in death on May 28, 1985.  On August 2, 1986, he was united in marriage to Cheryl (Vonckx) Garrity at Legend Lake.  He worked at Dental Health Products of New Franken, retiring seven years ago.  Roger was a hard worker and willing to offer an opinion when needed.  He enjoyed fishing, watching golf, the Packers and the Brewers as well as family get-togethers.
Roger is survived by: his wife, Cheryl; six children, Shelley (Allen) Kamps of Shawano, Mike Folkerts of St. Paul, MN, Chris Garrity of Marinette, Colleen Garrity of Platteville, Sean (Shae) Garrity of Washington and Brian (Becky) Folkerts of Pleasant Prairie; 12 grandchildren, Tara, Bob (Jenni), KC, Pierce, Dalton, Korbin, Hudson, Andrew, Lyndsey, Isabel, BeLit and Sam; eight great-grandchildren, Destiny, Makayla, Austin, Alexandrea, Blake, Kingston, Jaelyn, and Alani; one sister, Sandy (Lee) Hudgin of Loves Park, IL; brother-in-law, Mike (Jan) Borota of Machesney Park, IL; his sister-in-law, Joanne Talbott of Rockford, IL; brother-in-law, Gary Peterson of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law, Pam (Jim) Girtz of Green Bay; and brother-in-law, Joe (Kathy) Vonckx; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna; his son, Donald Folkerts; daughter-in-law, Pati Folkerts; his parents; brother, Denzel Folkerts; and sister, Judy Borota.
Funeral services for Roger will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley with Pastor Bill Gruenstern officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion Post #217. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
