Obituary

Roger H. Kirchenwitz, age 89, of Zachow, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2016, with his loving wife, June, at his side. Born on September 17, 1926 in the Town of Angelica, son of the late Karl and Mildred (Raaths) Kirchenwitz. On May 25, 1957, Roger was united in marriage to June Sievert at Zion Lutheran Church in Zachow. Roger served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Bonduel American Legion and VFW. He worked as a mechanic at Radtke's Garage in Zachow for many years. Roger also owned and operated a photography business, Kirchenwitz Photography. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Roger was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Zachow where he formerly served on the church council and as sextant of the church cemetery.
Roger is survived by: his wife of 59 years, June; five children, Linda (Dennis) Justin, Lowell Kirchenwitz, Chris (Brian) Blase, Donna (Richard) Klaus, and Diana (Ken) Wichlacz; 10 grandchildren, Adam, Laura (fiancé David), and Leah Justin, Nathan and Cassie Blasé, Alex, Amanda and John Klaus, Brianna and Connor Wichlacz; a brother, Harvey (Yvonne) Kirchenwitz; a sister Hazel Beilfuss; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin, a brother-in-law James Beilfuss, and his parents.
A funeral service for Roger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 11, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Zachow with Rev. Virgil Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion Post #217. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
