Roger W. "Buck" Hoffman, formerly of Gresham, passed away on February 16, 2016 at the age of 77 at a local nursing home. Roger was born in Shawano, WI on December 31, 1938 to the late Ralph and Esther (Zoromski) Hoffman. He graduated from Gresham High School in 1958. Roger married Margaret Ziemer at St. Francis Solanus Church in Gresham, WI on June 18, 1966, where he was a lifelong member.

Roger worked for various construction firms in the Fox Valley as a manual laborer in his younger years. Later in life, he enjoyed such hobbies as squirrel hunting, upholstery, woodworking, carpentry, fly tying, small engine repair, and doing word searches. His favorite hobby was both pan and ice fishing. For him, a day not spent fishing was a day wasted! He was also a significant figure in the St. Francis Solanus Parish Annual dumpling dinner for many years. He spent a significant amount of time and energy to make it successful. Roger loved to help others whenever and however he could and was especially helpful to his mother, mother-in-law and aunt in their later years. He was known for constantly handing out hard candy to everyone he met and for his generosity in loaning things to others.

Roger is survived by his wife Margaret; two sons, Gerald (Nancy) Hoffman of Shawano and Reverend David Hoffman of Suamico; a step grandson, Nicholas Haase; one sister, Renee Pieper of Gresham; one brother, Donald (Anna) Hoffman. He is further survived by various nieces, nephews, a very special great-niece and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, several brothers-in-law and his aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham Father Dave Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in spring. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
