Obituary
Roland R. "Rolly" Genke, age 81, of Bonduel, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Shawano. Born on May 1, 1937 in the Town of Lessor, Roland is the son of the late Roland A. and Cecelia (Dehn) Genke. Rolly graduated from Bonduel High School where he was active in the FFA and played football and basketball. After graduating he served in the United States Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1962. On May 12, 1962 Roland was united in marriage to Diane J. Neitzel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Together the couple raised three children. Rolly worked at Allis-Chalmers in Appleton for roughly 40 years until his retirement. In his free time he loved attending the sporting events, competitions, and performances for his daughter, sons, granddaughter, grandsons, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Since his retirement he has played cards and bingo with various groups in Bonduel. He was also a member of the FFA Alumni. Rolly was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel where he was active on the cemetery committee, the Christian board of education, St. Paul's dartball league, and was the men's club treasurer.
Roland is survived by: his loving wife of 56 years, Diane; a daughter Maureen (Randy) Steiner of Virginia; two sons, Robert (Toni Lindal) Genke of Appleton and Mark (Tanya) Genke of Little Chute; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Bloom, Kevin Bloom, Zachary Genke, Riley Genke, Carter Genke, and Mason Genke; one great grandson, Christian; two sisters, Rozanne (Delmar) Zernicke and Mary (Allen) Schultz; a brother-in-law Marvin (JoAnn) Neitzel; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Roland will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 10, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday evening from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and again at the church on Monday from 9:30am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Wolf River Lutheran High School.
