Roland H. Kakwitch, age 26 of Keshena, entered the spirit world on Saturday, May 4, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident in Keshena, WI. Born on May 9, 1986 in Shawano, he is the son of his loving mother, Gloria "Jeannie Boots" Peters. Roland graduated from the Menominee Indian High School in 2004, after which he continued his education at the College of the Menominee Nation where he received a Certificate in Welding. Roland enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, wrestling, boxing and four-wheeling. He was employed in the past as a Housekeeper and Blackjack Dealer at the Menominee Casino Resort. Roland also enjoyed working for Shot Gun Eddy Rafting during the summer months. Roland is survived by: his 3 children, Hayden, Riley, Reese; his siblings, Elmer III of Keshena, Norman of Keshena, Kyle (Shari) of Keshena, Orlin "Hutnowal" of Green Bay, Monnedoe of Green Bay; his father, Elmer Kakwitch Jr. of Keshena; his maternal grandmother, Gloria Miller; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, Cheyanne, Lance, Norman Jr., special nephew, Andre, special nephew, Antonio; special friend, Becca Robertson, and her daughter, Serenity. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alex Peters, Jr. and his step-grandfather, Gus Miller. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. David McElroy O.Praem officiating. Visitation will be held at N335 Pine Meadows Road in Keshena from 12:00 noon on Monday, May 6, 2013 until the procession leaves for church on Thursday.
