Ronald A. "Papa Ron" Hensel, age 83, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016, surrounded by his family. Ronald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on April 26, 1932, the son of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Yanka) Hensel.  Ronald was united in marriage to Betty DeLacerda, on June 18, 1954, in Fort Meade, Maryland.  He worked for the Chicago Northwest Railroad for 30 years and 6 months.  He lived in Shawano for the last 33 years.  Ronald enjoyed swimming, diving, waterskiing, hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

Ronald is survived by: his wife, Betty; his children, Ricky Hensel of Suring, Steven (Diane) Hensel of Shawano, Todd Hensel of Shawano, and Lisa Hensel-Gueths of Shawano; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ronald is preceded in death by: his parents and daughter-in-law, Barbara Ann Hensel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Melinda Shriner officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Shawano AMVETS post #10.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Swedberg Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
