Roy Arthur Giese, age 89, of Bowler, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at ThedaCare Hospital.
Roy was born on February 17, 1927, the son the late Frank and Minnie (Bratz) Giese.
On February 12, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mabel Ladwig at Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda.
They were married for 67 years.
Most of his life, Roy worked in construction.
He worked for 38 years for Clintonville Lumber & Supply.
His favorite pastimes included playing cards, especially Sheep head and Up & Down the river, hunting, fishing, gardening, and trapping, and he always let you know if it wasn't quite right.
Roy is survived by:
his wife, Mabel of Bowler; their children, Luella (Roger) Young of Wittenberg, LeRoy (Barb) Giese of Fremont, Janice (Jim) Guetschow of Wittenberg, and Sharon (special friend, James) Kassa of Tigerton; seven grandchildren, Randy (Angie) Young of Weston, Kathleen Young of Wittenberg, Lori (Mike) Murphy of Sussex, Nicholas Giese of Fremont, Shane (Patty) Howard of Bowler, Shelly Zeinert of Eland, and Jesse (Jennifer) Zeinert of Merrill; five great-grandchildren, Addison and Reece Young, Alyssa Howard, Kaylynn and Nicole Zeinert; two brothers, Otto (Elizabeth) Giese of Bowler, Orville (Sandy) Giese of Bowler; one sister, Angeline Ebert of Shawano; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Ruben and Betty Giese, and one brother-in-law, Quint Ebert.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda with Lay Minister Lois Graper officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:30 pm until the time of the services.
