Ruth V. Koenig, age 90, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 14, 2019. Ruth was born on October 1, 1929, in Gillett, to the late Julius "Gus" and Paulina (Desterhaft) Reichwald. She graduated from Gillett High School. On May 5, 1951, Ruth was united in marriage to Clinton Koenig in Gillett. She worked for Hales Corners State Bank for many years. Ruth and Clinton moved to the Shawano area after their retirement. Clinton preceded Ruth in death on July 27, 2010 after 59 years of marriage. Ruth was an active member of Divine Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church of Shawano, loved her church family, and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She loved to dance and was a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. Ruth was devoted to her family and loved her grandchildren dearly.
Ruth is survived by: her children, Marilyn (Phil) Milazzo of Waukesha, Audrey (John Callahan) Buelow of Delavan, and Jim (Laura) Koenig of Gillett; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Schultz, Anne Barry, Joseph (Carey) Milazzo, Matthew (Myra) Buelow, Michelle (Joe) Schwane, Erica Koenig, and Krysten Koenig; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Emma Schultz; and one brother, Melvin (Lois) Reichwald. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by: her husband, Clinton; her parents, Gus and Paulina; one grandson, Anthony; twin brothers, Henry and Herman Reichwald; and three sisters, Martha Newman, Hildegard Wesner, and Agnes Reichwald.
A funeral service will be held for Ruth at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Divine Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church of Shawano with Rev. Wolf Parsons officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday at church from 11:30 am until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Divine Savior Lutheran Church.
