Ruth Ann Wallrich, age 86, of Naples, FL, formerly of Shawano, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at AVOW Hospice Center in Naples, FL. Ruth was born on December 29, 1925 in Shawano, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel (Stier) Hoeper and step-mother, Anne (Paiser) Hoeper. Ruth was a 1943 graduate of the Shawano High School. She attended the University of WI-Madison and in 1947 received a nursing degree from Mercy Hospital of Nursing in Dubuque, IA. Ruth was a surgical nurse at the Shawano Hospital for many years. On February 12, 1949 she was united in marriage to Michael C. Wallrich at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The couple made their home in the Shawano and Cecil areas until moving to Naples, FL in 1984. In 1967 the couple along with their children built the Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil. Ruth was a devoted loving wife, a wonderful loving mother, and a caring loving grandmother "Nana." Everyone around her enjoyed her zest for life. She loved the game of golf and all the people involved. She actively enjoyed teaching youth golf and helped begin the girls' Golf Team at Bonduel High School. Ruth continued to show her love of golf even after their move to Florida. She was club champion for many years at The Glades Golf Course in Naples and continued to educate others in the game of golf. In 2008, Ruth was awarded for the many years of valuable contributions by the Ladies' Glades Golf Association. Ruth is survived by: her 6 loving children, Michael C. (Carmen) Wallrich of Naples, FL, Patrick H. Wallrich of Bonita Springs, FL, Caspar B. (Sue) Wallrich of Cecil, Ann F. Sutton of Amargosa Valley, NV, Jane M. (Scott) Umland of New Holstein, John A. (Linda) Wallrich of Sheboygan; 11 grandchildren, Samantha Thunder, Margaret Wallrich, Mitchell Wallrich, Matthew Wallrich, Aaron (Michelle) Wallrich, Amy (Boun) Vue, Tracy (Matt) Hardyman, Andrew Dobbs, Emily Krueger, Jennifer Wallrich, Joshua Wallrich; 12 great-grandchildren; and many friends. Ruth was preceded in death by: her husband, Michael C. Wallrich, Sr.; her son, Joseph Wallrich; a grandson, Michael C. Wallrich III; her parents, Ralph, Mabel and Anne Hoeper; and a son-in-law, Tom Sutton. Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Deacon Mike Grzeca officiating.
