Sandra M. "Sandy" Ponfil, age 75, of Neopit, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Sandy was born in Keshena on October 5, 1939 to the late Robert D. and Mary (Neconish) Soman. After attending Antigo High School, Sandra moved to Chicago where she lived until returning to the Menominee area. She was a generous, kind hearted, fun loving person with a great sense of humor. She was a great cook, and enjoyed playing bingo and slots as well as spending time with her family and friends. Sandra is survived by: her son, Jaime "Duke" Pocan; several grandchildren; a sister, Loretta McPherson; a special sister Romaine Delabrue; three nieces, Denise (Kerry) Madosh, Darlene (Jim) Welk, and Aletha McPherson; one nephew, Dana Grignon, Jr.; and two special great nephews, Peanut and Stormy. She was preceded in death by: her first husband Curtis Tourtillott; her second husband, Rodger Ponfil, Sr.; special friend, Edward "Budzie" Starr; her parents; two sisters, Marilyn J. Grignon and another sister Marilyn in infancy; and two brothers, Duane "Sonny" Soman and Bob Allen in infancy. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Rev. David McElroy O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 until the time of the funeral on Wednesday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday.
