Shawahossoway "Skinny" "Shawash" Wahsquonaikezhik, age 29, of Neopit passed away on November 21, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Shawahossoway was born on July 22, 1986, in Shawano to Ernest and Annette (Dodge) Wahsquonaikezhik. After graduating from High School, Shawahossoway joined the United States Army and served for four years, including time in Afghanistan, before earning his honorable discharge. On October 23, 2014, he was united in marriage to Sarah Vahling in Shawano. Shawahossoway loved being outdoors and was always excited to try new things.
Shawahossoway is survived by: his wife, Sarah, and her two daughters, Alicia and Serenity; his parents, Annette and Ernest Wahsquonaikezhik, Sr.; his brothers and sisters, Cheyenne (John Miller, Jr.)Wahsquonaikezhik of Keshena, Shakoka (Phillip) Waupoose of Neopit, Ramon Wahsquonaikezhik of Keshena, Jesse (Caitlyn) Wahsquonaikezhik of Keshena, Onawa (Darwin Thunder) Wahsquonaikezhik of Neopit, and Ernest (Taylor Chevalier) Wahsquonaikezhik of Keshena; he is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Traditional services will be held at the Wahsquonaikezhik residence located at N3594 1st Ave. in Neopit from 5:00p.m., Monday until 3:00p.m., Wednesday. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation.
