Obituary

Sherlene A. Irwin lost her courageous battle to cancer and went home to her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2021.  She spent her last days talking with family and friends.  She was born on July 11, 1950 in Elkhorn, WI to Hazel (Coggon) and the late Albert Troxel.  Sherlene graduated high school in 1968 from Mukwonago High School.

In 1972, Sherlene moved to California where she met her best friend and the love her life, Darrell K.  Irwin.  Together they raised their children Kenny, Charlotte, Heidi and Tanya.  Sherlene had a strong faith in God and was a true prayer warrior.  She was always praying for her family, friends, church family and others.  Her biggest hope and prayer is for her children and grandchildren to have a relationship with Christ and that they know him as their lord and savior.  Sherlene was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and daughter.  She was always concerned about others and put their needs before her own.

Sherlene was a hard worker and retired from San Marcos School District where she met many of her lifelong friends.  Retirement allowed her to return to Wisconsin with Darrell, where they lived in Shawano on the Wolf River.  She enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying nature and watching the birds – always looking for the Eagles.  Retirement also allowed her to enjoy traveling, bingo, slots, entertaining friends, and spending time with her family.  Sherlene also enjoyed golf, cooking, traveling and was known as the Christmas Queen.  Happy hour was always a treat she enjoyed immensely with her daughters which included chips and dip.    Sherlene was a fine cook who believed dinner should always be served timely and hot.

Sherlene was a beautiful lady who was in a class of her own.  Sherlene always made Christmas the most amazing time of the year with her decorating and her ability to make all feel welcome during this incredibly special season.  To know Sherlene, you would know how perfect every tree in the house was.

Sherlene will be greatly missed by her loving family: husband, Darrell; children, Kenneth (Chandra) Irwin, Heidi Lynn Martin, Tanya (Michael) Charlow; son-in-law, Michael Morris; adopted daughter, Meti (Gemechu) Belay; grandchildren, Alyssa, Amber, Austin, Brandon, Catherine, Chris, Jacob, Joshua, Mark, Rachael, Sara, Todd and Yero; 13 great-children; mother, Hazel Troxel; sister, Lucille (Arnold) Wittenburg; brother-in-law, Gerald (Shawna) Irwin; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Coggon.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  We are thankful to her brothers and sisters in Christ at Hope Community Church in Shawano for their prayers, love and support over the last several months.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Albert Troxel; daughter, Charlotte Morris; grandson, Zachary Kenneth Irwin; and brother, Roger Coggon.

A celebration of life for Sherlene is being tentatively planned for July 11, 2021.  An update will be provided prior to that date.
