Obituary

Shirley Kay Grosskreutz, age 76, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at her home. Shirley was born on September 23, 1939, the daughter of the late Clifford Hokenstad and Jane Frances (Montour) Hokenstad Vanderwalker. She lived in Shawano all of her life and owned and operated Shirley's Beauty Salon. Shirley was united in marriage to Roger E. Grosskreutz on January 3, 1968 in Las Vegas, NV. Roger preceded her in death on February 18, 2012. Shirley enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needle point. She was part of the bowling league, an avid Green Bay Packer fan, but more than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by: her children, Cyndee Joy (Rodney) Remmers of Alabama, Jerry (Carol) Grosskreutz of Shawano, and Dan (Diane) Grosskreutz of Clintonville; seven grandchildren, Stacy, Justin, Shanna, Cody, Robbie, Heide, and Nicholas; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 10 brothers and sisters, Mary Ellen (Rich) Williams, Barbara Hokenstad, William Hokenstad, Richard (Cheryl) Hokenstad, Kathryn (Larry) Hafeman, Byron (Barb) Vanderwalker, Sharon (Gary) Ambrose, Judy (Tom) Lessmiller, Douglas (Debbie) Vanderwalker, and Gary (Marie) Vanderwalker; as well as one uncle Sylvester (Carol) Montour, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Roger; one daughter, Dawne; her father, Clifford; her mother, Jane Hokenstad Vanderwalker; her step-father, Byron Vanderwalker; one brother, Allen Hokenstad; and one sister, Janet Koscher.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Loretta Waegli officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
