Shirley A. Nowak, age 71, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Shawano. Born on June 17, 1940 in Stevens Point, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Blanche (Spindler) Smith. On July 28, 1962 she was united in marriage to Gerald Nowak in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee, West Allis and Pewaukee before moving to the Shawano area in 2004, where the family had vacationed for many years. While living in Milwaukee, Shirley attended the Presbyterian Church. Shirley is survived by: her husband, Gerald; 3 children, Jeffrey Nowak of Pewaukee, Karen (Dan) Patrick of Delafield, Brian (Kim) Nowak of Sussex; 3 grandchildren, Kasi, Megan, Jakob; a sister, Audrey (Michael) Sattler of Warrens; several nieces and nephews and many other friends and family. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home located at W250 N6505 Hwy 164 in Sussex. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Sussex on Wednesday after 4 pm until the time of the service.
