Sister Jeanette
Mary Trost
January 18, 1926 – August 24, 2023
Sister Jeanette Mary Trost, age 97, passed away on Thursday August 24, 2023, in Embarrass, Wisconsin. Jeanette was born on January 18, 1926, in Manitowoc to the late Walter and Catherine (Pinger) Trost. She left her home parish of St. Paul to enter Holy Family Convent at age 14 and was teaching by age 19. Jeanette graduated from Holy Family College/Sliver Lake College and taught for 60 more years. She taught at SS. Peter and Paul in Kiel, St. Mary in Greenleaf, St. John the Baptist in Seymour, Corpus Christi in Sturgeon Bay, St. Gabriel the Archangel in Neenah, many schools in Bloomington and Chicago, Illinois, Santa Barbara California and Bapchule, Arizona. Jeanette retired from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Shawano and College of Menominee Nation in Keshena. She was a founding member of A New Genesis Community. In 1944, Jeanette professed her first vows and renewed her vows with A New Genesis Community in February of 1983. In 2019, she celebrated her 75th anniversary as a vowed religious woman. Jeanette was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit where she served as a communion minister. She loved teaching and co-authored a book on Mathematics for college students she tutored. After Jeanette's retirement, she loved cooking, especially baking her famous buns and enjoyed taking care of "puppy", crocheting and playing the harmonica.
Jeanette is mourned by her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Trost and Therese Trost; nieces and nephews, Tom (Barbara), Daniel, Richard (Pat), Paul, Catherine (Mike), Edward (Patty), Margaret (Scott), Roger, Chuck (Joanne), Donald, Lynn (Martin), Lori (Pat), Cindy and Kevin; the Fowler family and A New Genesis Community. A memorial has been established in Jeanette's memory at the College of Menominee Nation.
A memorial mass for Jeanette will be held at 11:00 am on Friday September 1, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit, with Fr. Hanz Chrisitan officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joan Delabreau, who helped care for Jeanette at home and all the nurses and aides of the Pine Nursing Home in Embarrass, for the wonderful care these last months.
