Steven J. "Kepāēmenekonaw" Arnold Steven J. "Kepāēmenekonaw (He takes care of us all)" Arnold, age 58 of Keshena, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 after a long illness. Born on December 4, 1953 in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Vernon and Evelyn (Weso) Arnold. After graduating from high school, Steven attended the University of WI-Stevens Point where he became the first in his family to receive a degree with a Forest Administration Degree. Steven lived most of his life on the Menominee Reservation where he worked as a forester. On September 1, 1984 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fernandez in Zoar. Steven loved being in the forest and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a talented builder and carpenter and proudly built his own home. Steven was a member of the Shawano Assembly of God Church. He was also active on the Conservation Committee, the American Indian Science Association, the Menominee County Board for Environment, and a member of Crime Stoppers. In his free time Steven enjoyed photography, woodworking, carpentry, jogging and biking. Steven is survived by: his wife, Elizabeth; 2 children, Oakley Arnold of Oneida, Sheena Arnold of Milwaukee; 2 stepchildren, Brett Reiter of Keshena, Jay Reiter of Keshena; 5 grandchildren, Tayutunhahelahawi, Marcus, Katelyn, Warren, Tayah, Halle, Jay Jr.; 3 brothers, Kenny Arnold of Pulaski, Jonathon Wilson of Appleton, Mick Lawson of Wausau; 5 sisters, Pat Burr of Gresham, Susan Arnold of Green Bay, Lynn Lawson of Wausau, Coleen Rumpf of Shawano, and Kathy Arnold of Arkansas; special nephew, Nate Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Steven was preceded in death by: his son, Elliott; his parents; and a brother in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. Robert Rank officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph of the Lake Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Arnold residence located at N3313 State Highway 55 in Keshena after 4pm on Tuesday until the procession leaves for the church on Wednesday.
