IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven A.
Schmidt
July 21, 1971 – February 4, 2022
Steven "Steve" August Schmidt, age 50 of Bonduel, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 4, 2022. He was born on July 21, 1971 in Shawano, to the late August J. Schmidt and Louise A. (Brodhagen) Schmidt. Steve grew up on the family dairy farm in rural Bonduel where he spent his entire life. After attending his elementary school years at St. Paul, he continued his education and graduated from Bonduel High School in 1989.
Steve enjoyed playing tuba in the Bonduel High School Band as well as the state FFA Band. Additionally, he was an integral part of the Schmidt family band which performed for many church functions and community events. He also sang in a male quartet with three of his brothers, and most recently rehearsed on February 2 nd for an upcoming event.
Following high school, Steve worked on the family farm, Burger King, McDonalds, Maplewood Meats, and most recently, Wal-Mart. "Stockman Steve" as he was affectionally called, had a great sense of humor and a warm smile for all those he came in contact with.
Steve's hobbies included geocaching, a sport that utilizes universal satellites to locate hidden treasures. He placed a number of "caches" himself and received "Cache of the Month" for his cache titled, "Flower", from the children's movie, "Bambi". He also enjoyed ice fishing whether to local lakes or traveling with his brothers to the big "Winnie", lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota.
Steve enjoyed playing games with his many nieces and nephews. As they grew up, he would attend their various school functions. He had a special place in his heart for his nephew, Johnny, whom he took on many long walks singing "Beautiful Savior" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness". Steve was a father like figure for both of his sister's children.
Steven was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel, where he served as an usher. He also gave great support to the Wolf River Lutheran High School.
He is survived by his seven siblings: Dave (Cheryl) Schmidt of Green Bay, Philip (Mee) Schmidt of Bonduel, Charles (Cathy) Schmidt of Cecil, Gerald (Judy) Schmidt of Bonduel, Janet Ortiz of Bonduel, Paul (Renee) Schmidt of Bonduel, Ron (Amy) Schmidt of Bonduel, along with eleven nieces and fifteen nephews.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, August and Louise Schmidt, a brother-in-law, Jose Ortiz, and a niece, Louisa Ortiz. His confirmation verse was Joshua 1:9; "Be bold and strong! Be not afraid. For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go".
