Steven G. Yunk, age 50, died peacefully on June 15, 2015 at Unity Hospice in De Pere surrounded by those who loved and cared for him, after a short battle with cancer. Steven was born on June 9, 1965 in Milwaukee to Walter and Delphine (Drezdzon) Yunk. He graduated from Shawano High School and most recently enjoyed cooking at Timeline Saloon and BBQ. Steven enjoyed gambling with his mother, campfires with family and friends, the Green Bay Packers and of course his cat Tigger. Steven stayed his last days at Unity Hospice, truly a wonderful place for him and a gift from God. His family will never be able to convey their gratitude to the entire team that cared for him. Steven is survived by his mother, Delphine Yunk; his father, Walter Yunk, Sr.; three brothers and two sisters, Walter (Kathy) Yunk, David Yunk, Nancy (Mark) Villars, Daniel Yunk (Laurie Strand), Lori (Bill) Kumbalek; nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Tigger. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles and one nephew, David Martens. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 321 S. Sawyer Street, in Shawano with Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steven's life. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh at a later date. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family extends a special thank you to the Unity Hospice Team that helped Steven at home, including Lea, Julie and Patty, The Bellin Health Cancer Team including Jennifer and Dr. Mortara, Froedert & Medical College of Wisconsin and all the friends and family that helped during Steven's illness including Laurie Strand, Heather Martens and Richard Yunk.
