Susan Lynn Ponchaud (nee Herzfeldt) best friend and wife of Jeff Ponchaud of Shawano, WI passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee due to complications from multiple health issues.  Sue was the daughter of Ann and the late Jim Herzfeldt of Shawano.

Sue was the ultimate "cowgirl."  All her life she loved everything horses!  She and her husband lived on a small horse ranch in the town of Wescott where she raised, rode and loved her horses, Amber, Saint, and Breeze.  She loved all her other "critters" too from dogs to cats to kids….

When she wasn't working you would find her 4-wheeling and spending time at her "Glamper" in Mountain or on their boat fishing in Chute Pond.  She loved her two daughters, Chris and Nicky and four grandchildren and was so excited she got to see her oldest granddaughter, Caitlin, graduate from high school in May in California.

A big part of Sue's life was working as a corrections officer at the Shawano County Jail.  She had just celebrated 25 years with the department this spring.

Sue was taken from us way too young and will be sadly missed by her husband of 43 years, Jeff Ponchaud of Shawano; mother Ann Herzfeldt of Shawano; Daughters Christine Ponchaud of Shawano and Nicky (Bryan) Birkes of Anaheim, CA; her sister Mary Beth (Tim) Leopold of Cape Coral, FL; her 4 grandchildren Caitlin Reed, Kendra, Kali and Kolton Birkes of Anaheim, CA; Brother and Sister-in-Law Cliff and Molly Ponchaud of Shawano and numerous other friends and family.

Paving the path to heaven and waiting with open arms for her are her father, Jim Herzfeldt, in-laws Cliff and Shirley Ponchaud, her maternal grandparents Harvey and Bernice Moesch and paternal grandparents Mary and Walter Herzfeldt along with all her furry friends who went before her.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano.  Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:30 p.m.
