Sylvia Rae (nee Ladd) Leinberger, age 62, was called home on Saturday, June 22, 2013 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Born on June 8, 1951 in Keshena, she was the fourth daughter born to Robert and Estelene (Clay) Ladd. As a young adult she left Keshena in pursuit of a college education at the University of WI-Superior, later moving to Milwaukee. While in Milwaukee, she excelled in her professional career first at an insurance company, then for the remainder of her career at the United Steelworkers of America District Office. Sylvia enjoyed only a short retirement from the working world, as she felt it missed her too much. She ventured into the non-profit world where she undoubtedly touched many lives. Sylvia was best known for being a rock upon which her family was grounded. She was a strong, supportive, funny and wise wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. In her final days, Sylvia wanted to be close to her childhood home where she could see the birds and trees and so she was peacefully resting at the Aspirus Hospice Home in Wausau where she was surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia is survived by: her husband, Lawrence "Larry" and her daughter, Andrea (Saif) and their son, Adam. She is further survived by: her mother, Estelene Ladd; siblings, Roberta (Tom) Boyd of Waynesburg, PA, Glenda (Roy) Tomashiro of Kawaii, HI, Jeannine McFadden of Milwaukee, Barbara King of Oneida, Robert Ladd, Jr. of Tigerton, Carol (Dale) Lones of Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sylvia was preceded in death by: her father, Robert; and a brother-in-law. Robert King. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. David McElroy O Praem officiating.
