August 13, 1929 – March 2, 2021
Theodore "Ted" Zastrow, age 91 of Gillett, went to his eternal home of rest on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Ted was born on August 13, 1929 to the late Frank and Elsie (Strei) Zastrow in the township of Gillett. He was baptized on December 8, 1929 at his parents' home. On August 13, 1949, Ted was united in marriage to Angeline "Angie" Fischer of Underhill at Immanuel Lutheran Church – White Clay Lake in Cecil. Angie preceded Ted in death on April 10, 2013. Ted was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church. His favorite activities included putting up Christmas light displays, doing woodworking projects, serving in numerous roles within the church, making quilts with his wife, and over the past several years, spending many hours reading and studying the Bible.
Ted is survived by his daughters, Joyce Johnson and Carol (Edward) Stanek; son, Stanley Zastrow; daughter-in-law, Barbara (Jaeger) Zastrow; foster daughter, Michelle (Larry) Ninnemann; grandchildren, Julie (Matt) Schelk, Ben (Roni) Zastrow, Dawn (Alturo Herrera) Johnson, Cassandra (Christopher) Carter, Carissa (Gabe) Baker, Mark (Katie) Stanek, Steven (Keri) Stanek, Leah Zastrow, Jasmine (Tim) Wandry, Emanuel Zastrow, and Hannah Zastrow; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Haag. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline; parents Frank and Elsie Zastrow; sons, Miles Zastrow and an infant son; daughter, Bernadine Zastrow; two grandchildren, infant child of Carol (Edward) Stanek and infant child of Stanley Zastrow; son-in-law, LTC Dennis Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Zastrow.
A funeral service for Ted will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett with Rev. John Laatsch officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Pulcifer. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
