Thomas Allen "Big Tom" Veigh, age 65 of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Outagamie County as a result of an automobile accident. Born on September 26, 1946 in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Joseph Veigh and Clara (Zabinski) Schmidt. After graduating from high school, Tom enlisted with the United States Marines to serve his country during the Vietnam War. On May 8, 1971 he was united in marriage to Donna Paske at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hartland. The couple made their home in Oconomowoc where Tom worked for Harley Davidson. After retiring, the couple moved to the Marion area and then to Shawano. They were members of the Divine Savior Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering with the Catechism Class. Tom was also a member of the Shawano V.V.A. (Vietnam Veterans of America) and the Shawano D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) and enjoyed working at the Food Pantry. He was a God loving man who enjoyed nature, watching the birds, deer hunting and riding his Harley. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law and uncle and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Tom is survived by: his wife of 41 years; Donna; a daughter, Michelle (Justin) Haese of Ixonia and their 2 sons, Blake and Mason Haese; a son, Thomas Allen (Candi) Veigh II of Oconomowoc and their twin boys due in August; a brother, David (Marge) Schmidt of Little Falls; Donna's parents, Alvin and Phyllis Paske of Shawano; a brother-in-law, Brian Johnson of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Sandy Milivojac of Shawano; a niece, Jesse Schmidt and her son; and 2 nephews, Jimmy Johnson and Jason (Nora) Schmidt and their son. Thomas was preceded in death by: his father, Joseph Veigh; his mother and step-father, Clara and Clifford Schmidt; and a sister, Janice Johnson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. James Naumann officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117 at the church following the service. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday after 9:30am until the time of the service.
