Velda Hazel Jung, age 80 of Gresham, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 in Shawano. Born on December 18, 1932 in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lillie (Hoppe) Hoffman. On November 24, 1951 she was united in marriage to Edgar H. Jung, Jr. at the Elias Lutheran Church. Edgar preceded her in death on July 30, 2006. Velda lived most of her married life in the Gresham area where she taught 1st and 2nd grade for 32 years mostly at the Bowler Grade School. She was a member of the Elias Lutheran church. Velda is survived by: her children, Edgar (Fay) Jung III of Clintonville, Brian Jung of Gresham, Joy (Tim) Jung of Madison; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dawn Westphal of Pella; and a brother, Elmer Hoffman, Jr. of NC. Velda was preceded in death by: her husband, Edgar; her parents; and a sister, Lillie Ann Hass. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Elias Lutheran Church, Gresham with the Rev. Doug Heling officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Wednesday from 4-8pm and at the church on Thursday from 12:00noon until the time of the service. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
