Velma B. Hammer Marchan, age 79 of Embarrass, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Pine Manor Care Center. Born on February 11, 1934 in the Town of Seneca, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Sophrona (Doxtator) Hammer. In 1957 she was united in marriage to Tomas Marchan in Shawano. He preceded her in death in 1991. Velma lived in the Palmyra/Whitewater area most of her life. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and crocheting. Velma is survived by: 6 children, Amber (Steve) Strasburg-Belzer of Jefferson, Vitoria (Mario) De Los Santos of Fort Atkinson, Irma (Cervando) Jimenez of Whitewater, Tomas (Jennie) Marchan of CA, Dario (Holly) Marchan of Big Bend, Randy Lewis of Leopolis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and 5 siblings, Eleanor Martin of Gresham, Lois (Mel) Siim of Bowler, Wayne Malone of Bowler, John (Mary) Malone of Bowler and Brenda Curtis. Velma was preceded in death by: her husband, Tomas; 3 children, Elmer, Nicholas, Jacqueline; her parents; a brother, Pat; and a sister, Donna. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham with the Rev. Melinda Shriner officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
