Vera M. Dahm, age 101, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in Shawano.
Vera was born in Altoona, WI on October 30, 1914, the daughter of the late Jesse G. and Helena (Scheller) Colburn.
She is a graduate of Marshfield McKinley High School and continued her education by graduating from Sheboygan Business School.
On May 24, 1947, Vera was united in marriage to Robert F. Dahm in Menominee, MI.
Robert preceded her in death on July 4, 1972.
Vera had several different jobs throughout her life, including Deputy County Clerk for Shawano County.
She retired from Family Insurance Company after working there for 16 years.
She also served on the City of Shawano Election Board for over 25 years.
Vera was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, the Shawano American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many auxiliary offices including unit and county presidencies, and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Vera loved to travel and has been to Hawaii, Florida, the Smokies, Washington D.C, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, and to Branson several times. She was also a great cook and baker.
Vera is survived by:
her "two boys", Rev. Robert (Susan) Dahm of Menomonie and Ronald Dahm of Shawano; and one grandson, Shawn Stary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her granddaughter Robin Messick.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Scott Ludford officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
