Obituary

Verna F. (Mastey) Strupp, 100, of Cecil (Advance), passed away at home on Monday, June 20, 2022.  She was born on September 23, 1921, daughter of the late Stanley and Agnes (Szymanski) Mastey and was one of 13 children.  She was a graduate of Pulaski High School.  On July 23, 1941, she was united in marriage to Norbert Strupp at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski.  He preceded her in death on August 11, 1999.  Verna and Norbert farmed and lived in the Advance area, where she resided at the farm until her passing.

Verna was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Cecil.  Her life revolved around her family.  The farm was always the gathering place for many family get togethers.  She has passed on her love of reading, baking and card playing to her entire family.

She is survived by her seven children:  Jerome Strupp, Advance; Kathleen Blahnik, Vancouver, WA; Mary (David) Rankin, Suamico; Linda (Charles) Buss, Bonduel; Susan (Keith) Heller, Appleton; Sandra (August) Heller, Howard; and Jean (Kenneth) Banker, Advance; 14 grandchildren:  Kimberly Blahnik, Nicole Blahnik, Jeffrey (Jennivine) Rankin, Shanna (Mick) Rankin-Coyne, Nathan (Samantha) Rankin, Ryan (Serena) Rudzinski, Eric (Ariana) Rudzinski, Andrew (Kristin) Heller, Amber (Mark) Ortell, Allen Heller, Megan (Adam) Rudolph, Whitney Banker, Jacob Banker and Isaac Banker; 3 step-grandchildren:  Brooke (Billy) Calkins, Briana (Rashid) Ghbein and Brandon (Charity) Banker; 17 great grandchildren; and 9 step-great grandchildren.  Verna is further survived by one sister: Geraldine Kuklinski; and two brothers:  Eugene and Leonard (Rose Marie) Mastey; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her husband, Verna was preceded in death by one son, David, two sons-in-law David Rudzinski and Theodore Blahnik, and nine siblings:  John, Florian, Alvin, and Norbert Mastey; Florence Rawlsky, Isabelle Mastey, Evelyn Lubinski, Rita Immel, and Lorraine Luebke.

Family and friends may call at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Cecil, on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding.  Burial will take place immediately following the funeral mass in the St. Martin cemetery.
