Veronica Neuman, age 95, of Stevens Point, formerly of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living.  Veronica was born in Streator, Illinois on October 15, 1923, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Yunker) Telford.  Upon the death of her parents, Veronica and her younger brother, Herbert, moved to Stiles Township to live with their Uncle Charles and Aunt Jennie on the Telford family farm.  Veronica was a 1942 graduate of Lena High School and worked as a maid and waitress during her high school years.  After high school Veronica attended teacher training at Marinette, Wisconsin and later earned a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh.  Veronica married Emil Neuman on November 10, 1945 at Christ Church, in Hintz, Underhill Township.  Emil preceded Veronica in death in 1991.  After they were married, Emil and Veronica moved to the Shawano area where Veronica worked as a teacher.  After taking a few years off from teaching to have her three children, she returned to teaching in the 1950's and continued teaching until her retirement.  During her long and distinguished teaching career, Veronica taught at Berry Lake, Frank, Apple Orchard, Neopit, Cecil, and Bonduel schools.  She also worked on the family farm in Underhill Township prior to moving to Shawano in 1968.

Veronica was an active member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano and enjoyed her time volunteering with the Ladies Aid.  She was a member of the church for fifty years.  In her free time she enjoyed doing arts and crafts, gardening and doing yard work well into her nineties.

Veronica is survived by her children Donald (Angela) Neuman, Hattiesburg, Miss., Lou Ann, Chicago Heights, Ill., and Emil Neuman, Jr., Mosinee, Wis., grandchildren David (Danielle) Neuman, Brian (Carla) Neuman, Jason Grigsby and Brandon Grigsby, and great grandchildren Caitlin and Zachary Neuman. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Veronica in death were: her husband, Emil Neuman, Sr.; her parents; three siblings; James Telford, Streator, Ill, sister Georgina Griswold, Herron, Ill. and brother Herbert Telford, Janesville, WI.; a daughter-in-law, Carol; and a son-in-law, William L. Grigsby.

Funeral services for Veronica will be held at 11:00 am on Monday , April 29 , 2019 at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, 102 Northridge Dr. Shawano, WI 54166, with Rev. Wolf Parsons officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  The family has requested memorials, in the name of Veronica Neuman, be directed to the Ladies Aid of Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Shawano.
