Vilas Andrew "Huns" Nass, age 97, of Bonduel, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Bonduel.
Born in Wittenberg on March 17, 1919, he is the son of the late Herman and Anna (Schertz) Nass.
Vilas graduated from Clintonville High School and then enlisted in the United States Army and served during WWII.
While in the military, he enjoyed playing both baseball and softball.
He was honorably discharged in 1945.
On August 31, 1946, Vilas was united in marriage to Ella Mae Prahl, she preceded him in death on October 16, 1993.
Vilas worked as a farmer and a painter and he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at White Clay Lake.
During his younger years he enjoyed bowling, deer hunting and fishing, and more recently, during his stay at Meadow View, he enjoyed playing bingo and beating everyone at checkers.
Huns is survived by two daughters, Jill (Ronald) Bohm of Zachow and Joan (Dennis) Genke of Cecil; six grandchildren, Trisha (Tim Everard) Bohm, Rev. Heather (Mike) Bogacz, Kristy (James) Huben, Aaron (Ashley) Genke, Andy Genke and Heidi Genke; eight great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tyler, Dameon, Gunnar, Parker, Jaxson, Penelope and Fisher; and three sisters, Carol Schardt, Gerri Middleton, and Bernie (Charles) Knaack.
He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae, his parents, one brother, Larry and two sisters, Viola and Loreen.
Funeral services for Vilas will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel, with Rev. Steven Pockat officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home following the service.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00am until the time of the service.
