Violet A. Leitzke, age 93, of Green Bay, WI, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2016 after recuperating near family in Minneapolis, MN following a brief illness. She was born to the late William and Lydia (Lemberg) Neitzel on September 21, 1922 in the Township of Hartland in Shawano County. She grew up on a farm outside of Bonduel and graduated from Shawano High School. Violet married Victor Leitzke on June 22, 1950. The couple farmed in Boyd, WI until Victor's death in January 1967. She relocated to Green Bay, where she attended trade school and was employed for many years doing city directories throughout the Upper Midwest. Violet retired in 1988 and enjoyed time with family and friends, Silver Sneakers, Cup of Joy and her sports. Violet was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, UWGB Phoenix and Milwaukee Brewers and proud to be a long-time Packer ticket holder. She enjoyed many vacations, including trips to Alaska and the North Pole, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Israel. Violet was a long-time member of the Full Gospel Assembly in Bonduel.
Violet is survived by: nephews, Kenneth (Jennifer) Neitzel, David (Barbara) Neitzel, Philip (Janet) Neitzel, Douglas (Vicky) Neitzel, and Daniel Neitzel; niece Deborah (Alan) Quast; as well as great nieces, Katina Neitzel, Heather (Kevin) McCowen, and Nicole Neitzel; as well as a great-nephew Brent (Gladys) Neitzel. She is further survived by one great great-niece, Aliyah McCowen; two great great-nephews, Josiah and Noah McCowen and many cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; one daughter, Mary Leitzke in infancy; her parents; her brothers and their wives, Martin (Evelyn) Neitzel (Kallies) and Leonard (Frieda) Neitzel; one sister, Rose Neitzel in infancy; as well as one nephew, Gordon Neitzel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Full Gospel Assembly Church in Bonduel with Reverend Hood officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held as Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
