May 15, 1952 – September 10, 2019
Virgil A. "Merd" Chevalier,Sr., age 67, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay. He was born on May 15, 1952, in Keshena, to the late Melvin and Jeanette (Tourtillott) Chevalier. Virgil lived on the Menominee Reservation all of his life. He was a carpenter by trade. He also enjoyed golf, watching the Packers and the Brewers, and reading. Virgil loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Virgil is survived by: his wife of 34 years, Jodi (Hawpetoss) Chevalier; his children, Virgil (Tricia) Chevalier, Jr., Michael (Crystal) Chevalier, Richard (Gina) Chevalier, Anthony Chevalier, Christopher (Alberta) Newton, Jeanette (Little Bear) Chevalier, Louis (Michelle) Chevalier, Jeanne (Raymond) Chevalier, Jennifer (Mahwassa) Chevalier, Osawanahkwat Chevalier, Danny Chevalier, and Autumn (Michael) Chevalier; 16 grandchildren with 3 on the way; siblings, Apesanahkwet Chevalier, Wanda Chevalier, Arnold Chevalier, Gary (Michelle) Chevalier, Randy (Angelica) Chevalier, and Cindy Chevalier; he is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Melvin and Jeanette; his siblings, Warren "Eagle" Chevalier, Donald "Cutty" Chevalier, Robert "Quill" Chevalier, Christopher "Fred" Chevalier, and Bernadette Chevalier; and one grandchild, Jace Joseph Chevalier.
A funeral service for Virgil will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, September 13, 2019, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr. Joel Jores officiating. Visitation will be held at the Gary and Michelle Chevalier Residence, N1180 Highway 47, beginning Wednesday, September 11, 2019, from 6:00 pm until the time of processional on Friday. Traditional prayer service will be held at the Gary and Michelle Chevalier Residence on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 7:00 pm.
