Virginia Mae "Ginny" Hess, age 83, of Belle Plaine passed away on Sunday March 9, 2025, in Shawano. Ginny was born on August 5, 1941, in Shawano to the late Oscar and Vera (Hoppe) Hacker. She graduated from Shawano High School. On December 17, 1960, Ginny was united in marriage to Leonard R. "Sleepy" Hess, Jr., in Shawano. The couple spent a wonderful 57 years together before Sleepy's passing in 2018. She worked at Schultz, Springy's Restaurant and Cecil Diner throughout her life. She enjoyed camping, playing Sudoku and watching NASCAR and Packers. Ginny was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ken Kobs) Herlache; granddaughter, Lukenna Lindner; sister, Sandra Martens; brother, Warren Hacker; sister-in-law, Sandra Welch; and brothers-in-law, Donald Hess and Lester "Buzzy" Hess, Sr. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ginny is preceded in death by her husband, Sleepy; son, Eugene Hess; son-in-law, Clayton "CJ" Herlache; sister-in-law, Carol Hess; and brothers-in-law, Edward Hess and Dan Martens.

A funeral service for Ginny will be held at 11:00 am on Friday March 14, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Zobel officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be held in the spring at Friendship Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
