Walter Charles Hahn, age 61 of Shawano, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at a local nursing home. Born on March 22, 1951, he was the son of Walter O. Hahn and the late Shirley (Hart) Hahn. Walter worked part time in the office at Lakeland Industries in Shawano and had also worked part time at the Shawano Co. City Library since 1987. Walter had been an active volunteer with the Red River Riders and would provide transportation to participants. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano where he was a longtime usher. When not working, Walter enjoyed bowling, going on bus trip and privately playing his accordion. He was a participant in the Special Olympics race/walk. Walter was very family orientated and proudly worked extra hard to keep the family tree up to date. Walter is survived by: his father, Walter Hahn of Waupaca; 3 brothers, William of Shawano, Eugene of Shawano, Glen of Portage; a sister, Donna (Scott) Willison of FL; a step sister, Judy Speer; and a nephew, Paul Willison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday after 9:30a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Red River Riders or the American Cancer Society.
