Walter Whalen, age 86 of the Town of Richmond, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at a local nursing home. Born on June 14, 1925 in MN, he was one of 11 children. Wally was recruited by the United States Air Force on Sept. 30, 1943 and served his country for 4 years. He later worked as a sales rep, traveling throughout the US. On February 14, 1953 he was united in marriage to Arlene Lindow in Waukegan, IL. Wally is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Arlene; a sister-in-law, Shirley Meyers of Shawano; 2 sisters, Mary (Arnold) Mouish of Houston, TX, Elizabeth (Bob) Tuttle of Austin, TX; and a brother, John (Rosemary) Whalen of Milwaukee. Wally was preceded in death by: his parents; and 7 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at 1pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Melinda Shriner officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday after 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
