Wayne R. Engel, age 71 of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Wayne was born on January 26, 1949 in Shawano, to the late Rudolph and Nora (Gueths) Engel. Wayne was a graduate of Shawano High School Class of 1967. He attended college at University of Wisconsin River Falls. On August 12, 2006, Wayne was united in marriage to Sandy Berglin in the Town of Richmond. Wayne was a farmer in the Town of Richmond, worked at Engel Moving with his father, and later on owned and operated Montour Engel Heating and Cooling of Shawano. He was widely known for holding the Richmond Thrasheree for 21 years.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Justin (Sarah) Engel of Shawano, WI,  Lara (David) Deyarmond of Aspen, CO, Tomissa (Mike) Huart of Union, IL, and Joshua (Megan) Brauer of Madison, WI; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Judy (Robert) Henke of Clarinda, IA and Jane (Dennis) Soderberg of Baldwin, WI. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service for Wayne will be held, Saturday June 26, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. Jakobi Cemetery with Rev. Travis Kleinschmidt officiating.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Red River Sportsmen's Club following the service.
