Hetzer
May 4, 1927 – April 14, 2020
Wayne R. Hetzer, age 92, of the Town of Red Springs, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Wayne was born on May 4, 1927, in Milwaukee, to the late Charles and Clara (Jaunke) Hetzer. Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during WWII. He was born and raised in Milwaukee and later moved to Antigo. On October 20, 1951 Wayne was united in marriage to Bessie Peters in Gresham. He lived in Antigo for 33 years where he was an accountant for Wynnwood, later working for Risdon Potato Broker and doing tax work. Wayne and Bessie later moved to the Town of Red Springs 22 years ago. He was a member of the Elks Club and was also a lifetime member of the Gresham American Legion Post #390. Wayne was a knack for fixing things and could repair anything.
Wayne is survived by: his wife of 68 years, Bessie; his daughter, Terri (David) Doucette of Antigo; his son, Peter Hetzer of Gresham; his grandchildren, Chris, Ben, Mat, Leah Mae, Amber and Malachi; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Haiden, Braxton, Brayah, and Bryce. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charles and Ken.
Graveside military honors will be conducted on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Old Stockbridge Presbyterian Church by the Gresham American Legion Post #390.
