Wendell Louis Peters, age 62 of Neopit, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021. Wendell was born on August 3, 1958, to the late Warren Kakwitch Sr. and Betty Ann (Peters) Wynos in Keshena. He attended high school in Milwaukee and went to the College of Menominee Nation.  Wendell lived in Neopit most of his adult life.  He worked in construction, building homes, and worked at the Menominee Food Pantry. Wendell enjoyed the outdoors taking long walks was one of the many things he enjoyed doing in his free time. He was blessed with 3 children and 10 grandchildren, which was one of his greatest joys. Wendell had an infectious smile if he was smiling it made you want to smile too.

Wendell is survived by his mother, Betty Ann (Peters) Wynos; children, Marlon (Fiancé Allie) Skenandore, Jeremy Peters and Tasheena Peters; siblings; Roberta (Ed) Reiter, Louis (Barb) Kakwitch, Warren (Mashanna) Kakwitch, Darin Wynos and Kathy Lynn-Wynos; as well as 10 grandchildren. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Wendell was preceded in death by his father Warren Kakwitch Sr..

A funeral service for Wendell will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church until the time of service.
