Obituary

William C. Gehm, age 88 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at a local nursing home. Born on March 13, 1923 in the Town of Waukechon, he was the son of the late William and Hildegard (Radloff) Gehm. After Hildegard's death when Bill was quite young, his father married the former Anna Johnson. Bill was united in marriage to Sylvia Dallman on October 12, 1946. Bill worked as a mechanic at Lasch Motors in Shawano for many years and was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church. In his free time, he loved to go snowmobiling, hunting, and playing cards. Bill had a remarkable ability to fix anything and enjoyed doing woodworking. Bill is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Sylvia; his 2 sons, Nick (Kathy) of Green Bay, Joel (special friend, Kelly)of Shawano; 2 grandchildren, Shawn (Caryn) Gehm of Green Bay, Mandy (Marty) Froelich of Green Bay; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marrian Tomashek of Shawano. Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; a granddaughter, Jolene; his step-mother, Anna Gehm; and a step-sister, Mary Ann Chopski. The family is honoring Bill's wishes to have only a private family service. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
