Obituary

William John Hoffmann, age 75, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Born on October 24, 1941 in Shawano, he is the son of the late John and Ida (Beske) Hoffmann. William lived his entire life in the Shawano area and worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 34 years as a bridge and road inspector before retiring in 2000. On December 5, 1964 he was united in marriage to Carol Powell in Shawano. Carol preceded him in death on August 1, 2012. William was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church and the co-founder of Shawano Whitetails Unlimited. He and Carol enjoyed watching softball. Bill also enjoyed hunting, golfing, watching racing and football.
William is survived by: his daughter, Debra (Greg) Rudie of Gillett; two grandchildren, Jacob, Briana; great granddaughter, Emma; one brother, Richard (Donna) Hoffmann; one sister, Nancy (Lynn) Hansen; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Carol and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Michael J. Schram officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
