Obituary

William Robert Knuth, Jr., age 73 of Marinette, formerly of Shawano and Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, while surrounded by his family and wonderful caregivers. William was born in Ripon, Wisconsin on July 20, 1948, to the late William R. and Emily (Schroeder) Knuth. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and grew up in Appleton. He had a wonderful childhood and shared many stories. Following Bill's 1966 graduation from Appleton High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served from 1967 through 1971. Bill went on to pursue his passion in law enforcement, as an officer, and worked for Shawano, Menominee, and Marinette Counties for most of his career. Bill enjoyed hunting, both small game and deer, fishing, and ice-fishing. In his younger years, Bill loved boating on Berry and Shawano Lakes with his friends and family.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Anmarie Junion of Appleton; his son, Matthew (Stephanie) Knuth of Waupaca; four grandchildren, Tyler Junion, Alesiana Knuth, Lathan Knuth, and Zavian Knuth; his sisters, Rhonda Wagner and Lori (Steve Erbrecht) Knuth, both of Shawano; and special aunt, Bonnie Schroeder of AZ. He is further survived by his special and inspirational friend, Ray Turcek, his faithful canine companion, Duchess, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, William J Knuth; long time love, Christine "Cookie" Zynda; his parents, Emily and William Knuth, Sr., his aunt and uncle, Arlene (Ralph) Sheels; grandparents, Esther (Archie) Schroeder and Martha Knuth; brother-in-law, Thomas Wagner; along with many other remarkable family members.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Shawano American Legion Post #117.

Yesterday we said goodbye to a wonderful man. While saying goodbye is never easy, we knew it was coming… we know he is no longer suffering and is now resting in peace. It was not only an honor to be able to call him Dad, but even more of an honor to be able to have spent the last few days of his life with him. We would like to extend a special thank you to Bill's caregivers, Tasha and Julie for the last five years and to Menominee Care Center Staff for their care and compassion, especially Stacy, Barb, Becky, and Roger for the past two months.
